Worship Set List

This is a late post, but here is the worship set list from this past weekend at Northview. It was a great start to the first in our series Change We Can Believe In. Check out this video. The worship through music focused on God’s never-ending love for his people and the foundation that brings to those who follow Christ. We closed with our response to God, an invitation to take us and use us as he would like.
Solid Rock- Delirious
Everlasting God- Lincoln Brewster
God Of All Splendor- Robby Reider
Take My Life- Chris Tomlin

REVIEW: The Mummy 3
How many sarcastic lines can a studio write for actor Brendan Frasier? Apparently the sarcasm resources are unlimited at Universal, the studio that created the lastest iteration of the Mummy franchise.
I didn’t enjoy The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. It was two hours of dull entertainment with bad CGI and a story line that could have been written by an eighth-grader (no offense to eighth-graders). I enjoyed the first Mummy adventure, but the franchise has taken a decided turn for the worse, much like the oft cited Land Before Time cartoon series. I had high hopes–somewhat–for the latest mummified adventure, but I left the theater shaking my head and wishing I could get back those two hours of my life.

Chinese Human Rights
I don’t typically use this blog to air my international political rants, but there is one issue that I have been waiting to discuss until the opening day of the Olympics.
China is a nation who was given the incredible responsibility of hosting the Olympics at it’s capitol city. It’s a responsibility that the world community historically gives to those countries who have a strong record of human rights. Because of political expedience and China’s increasing super-power status the world community lost all credibility when it granted them the gift of hosting this international tradition. This should be an outrage to everyone who breathes, but it should be especially outraging to those who follow Christ.
One-child policy, religious restriction, political prisoners, and torture are just a few of the general human rights violations documented by the U.S. State Department and Amnesty International. No country is without blemish, but a country that so flagrantly denies its citizens human rights should not carry the honor of hosting the Olympics.
